Standing water hazards and insurance for women

Women insurance buyers who have got through the snow without having to claim on their car insurance are now likely to face another driving hazard as localised flooding wreaks havoc across much of the UK.

In Wiltshire, on the night of Monday 9th February, fire crews rescued at least nine drivers who became stuck in floodwater after heavy rain and snow in the area.

The following morning five major regions were on flood alert; the North East, Midlands, Anglian, Thames, South East and South West regions all had some degree of flood threat.

The AA advise that you should only drive through standing water if you know how deep it is. Water that gets into a car's intake can cause extensive damage.

If you do have to drive through low level water, do so slowly so as to avoid making a bow-wave and to maintain better contact with the road.

A spokesperson for CoverGirl, women insurance specialists, said, "We've had snow, ice and still the driving conditions continue to be challenging. Driving with due care and attention at all times during heavy rain can help to avoid car accidents and costly claims on your motor cover for ladies."
