Arsenal footballer Andrey Arshavin should brush up on his women's car insurance facts after it was revealed in national press that the Premiership star would ban female drivers "without thinking twice."
Perhaps the 27-year-old Russian should think twice before he speaks to reporters and check facts cited by the World Health Organisation regarding male risk-taking tendencies and women's safer driving style, information which led to women being offered cheaper car insurance quotes because of their gender.
Quoted in the Daily Mail the striker said, "If you see a car behaving weirdly, swerving and doing strange things, before you see the driver you know it is a woman. It is always a woman."
Some pundits may suggest that Arshavin couldn't possibly be sexist as he designs women's clothing as a sideline, but unless you are his preferred shape - "tall and slim" with "narrow hips and tiny bum" then you are unlikely to be catered for by his range of attire.
A spokesperson for CoverGirl, providers of specialist women's car insurance, said, "Female drivers are unlikely to be impressed by these comments, especially as footballers are often in the press for their drunk driving and car accident misdemeanours."
