If you are a women's car insurance buyer from Portsmouth, we salute you. Why? Because according to a new survey, housewives in their forties from the Hampshire town are the safest drivers in the country, that's why.
Hyundai's poll questioned 2,000 drivers about their driving behaviour and history and concluded that the aforementioned Portsmouth lady drivers don't park illegally, don't jump red lights, don't use bus lanes illegally and are unlikely to have penalty points on their licence.
A Hyundai spokesperson said, "We were keen to find out which drivers in the UK were the most intelligent, by looking at the things people do regularly behind the wheel.
"We wanted to find the people who are the most careful and considerate drivers, those who take their time making driving decisions and most importantly, those who follow the Highway Code."
The study revealed that the average driver speeds around 14 times a week, however, female drivers in their 40s exceed the speed limit only once a week.
Seven out of ten UK motorists admit to jumping red lights, whereas only one in ten Portsmouth ladies admits transgressing in this manner. Likewise only one in 20 Pompey lady drivers say they have used a bus lane at a time when it was not allowed compared with the national average of one driver in five.
Male drivers from London, in their 30s, turned out to be the most aggressive drivers and more likely to become embroiled in a road rage incident.
A CoverGirl spokesperson said of the survey, "This information comes as no surprise to a women's car insurance provider as we already offer lower car cover quotes to women specifically because of their gender and its less risk taking traits."
