The price of women's car insurance can be severely affected by a motoring conviction such as one given for not wearing a seatbelt.
During March, West Yorkshire Police will be running a two-week operation to reinforce legal requirement regarding car safety restraints.
Drivers and passengers who refuse to wear a seatbelt significantly increase their risk of suffering serious or fatal injuries if they are involved in a car accident, officers explained.
The initiative is likely to see fixed penalty notices handed out to those motorists found not complying with seatbelt regulations.
A police spokesperson said of the campaign, "We will keep repeating operations like this until we get the message across to people."
A spokesperson for women's car insurance providers CoverGirl, commented, "It is ultimately the responsibility of the driver to make sure everyone under the age of fourteen travelling in the vehicle is properly secured by means of a seatbelt. In the interests of safety we would encourage drivers to ask all passengers to belt up."
