Motorists who are already being forced to pay more for men and womens car insurance as well as meeting rising fuel costs are not likely to be pleased to hear reports revealing they may well be wasting more than a year of their lives waiting in traffic and burning extra fuel.
According to reports, a study commissioned by Continental Tyres has shown that motorists are likely to spend 58 weeks of their lives waiting in traffic. The study gathered answers from 2,000 drivers and focused on the habits of commuters.
It was also shown that the average commute is a round trip of 28 miles, taking 41 minutes to complete including 12 minutes spent in traffic delays.
Tim Bailey, head of safety at Continental Tyres, said that 63 percent of workers stated that they used their cars four or five days during a working week.
Many motorists who do not use their cars to commute to work or drive long distances frequently are able to save money on their men or ladies car insurance by choosing low mileage cover.
