Female drivers who put vanity before safety could put cheap women's car insurance in jeopardy as unsafe driving behaviour is revealed in a new report.
A Sheila's Wheels survey shows that one in six women who need corrective lenses do not wear them behind the wheel.
Of those polled, 27% who should wear glasses to drive do not always do so, and of those, 10% said the reason they chose to drive unsafely was that they were embarrassed by un-trendy specs.
Worryingly, 11% of lady car insurance buyers admitted to being involved in a car accident or having a near-miss incident as a result of defective vision.
Northern Ireland's lady drivers were the worst at driving without glasses, as 50% of those who should wear them choose not to. Female motorists from Wales proved the best at wearing their specs behind the wheel.
A CoverGirl spokesperson commented, "Cheap women's car insurance is made available because women demonstrate safer driving behaviours than their male counterparts. If these trends continue, female driver insurance rates could rise."
