Female drivers searching for womens car insurance for a car with a new '10' registration plate may be interested to know that they are statistically likely to commence driving their shiny new vehicle without fully understanding how to do so.
A survey by high street retailer M&S for their car insurance division has revealed that only 12 percent of all drivers will fully read the manual before taking their newly purchased car (new or used) onto the road.
Out of those people polled more than a third (35 percent) said they would not read a car manual at all before driving an unfamiliar car, while 51 percent said they would "flick through it".
Surprisingly, women are more likely to drive a car without reading the manual than men with 40 percent of female drivers admitting this, compared with 30 percent of male drivers.
Only 21 percent of drivers said they felt very confident about knowing how all car features worked when they took a car out for the first time and almost a fifth (19 percent) owned up to learning about items such as lights, windscreen wipers and audio systems as they drove.
A spokesperson for Covergirl, specialist provider of womens car insurance said, "Your car insurance for women will be compromised if you have a car accident as a result of distracted driving, perhaps due to struggling with a CD system, or for failing to have car lights properly illuminated."
