Female drivers searching for a competitive woman's car insurance quote have been warned by Which?, the consumer finance magazine, that relying on a single price comparison website might not get them the best quote.
When the magazine checked the three largest comparison sites it found that, in most cases, the cheapest quote was different on each website.
Sometimes it was possible to get a better deal by going direct to the insurer.
Which? also found that each website asked different evaluation questions and quoted products with differing features, so a true comparison of premiums from site to site was not possible.
Martyn Hocking, Editor, Which? Money, says, "You need to use two or three comparison sites and check directly with providers to get the best quote, and remember that cheapest isn't always best - it's a false economy if you don't get enough cover for your needs or have to pay a huge excess if you claim." A Covergirl spokesperson commented, "By speaking to one of our friendly advisers we can find you the cheapest woman's car insurance quote available, whilst making sure you get all the features and top quality cover that you require. Our online car insurance service will do exactly the same."
