Research by a women's car insurance company has shown that teaching assistants from Perth are the safest female drivers in the UK.
Diamond, which specialises in cheap car insurance for women, looked at which groups of motorists were least - and most - likely to have to claim on their motor insurance.
For ladies, being an assistant teacher, an accountant or a secretary was found to be a sign of safe driving, whilst low-risk male drivers tended to be involved in policing, computing programming or engineering.
A spokesperson for Diamond Insurance said: "It's probably very comforting to know that the people who are charged with protecting the community are also some of the safest drivers."
The head of AA road safety also commented: "If you look at an off-duty police officer, it is almost certain that at some point in their careers they will have to deal with the aftermath of a bad accident, informing the relatives of the deceased, and this will certainly make them more cautious."
On the other hand, ladies who earn a living as a hairdresser were found to have an 18% higher chance of having to make a car insurance claim than women involved in other lines of work.
The women's car insurance provider also looked at location, as well as career choice in its research. It found that Scottish cities such as Perth, Inverness and Dumfries posed the lowest risk of an accident in the UK, whilst Blackburn, Blackpool and Manchester all had a very high accident rate.
The Diamond spokesperson went on: "With places such as Perth and Inverness, the traffic is not quite as built up as, say, in Manchester, so perhaps it explains the lower claim rate there.
"However, when you consider that there were other busy parts of Scotland included in the list, and that the less built-up areas of Wales were not included, then perhaps the results show that Scottish drivers do take greater care when they are out on the roads."
