Further to recent findings that Sheila's Wheels, a high profile
women's car
insurance company, was not offering quite the "bonzer" deals it purported
to, a new report from Swiftcover.com has supported the original news story.
Swiftcover's research was based on car insurance quotes for a 30-year-old female teacher, using three different cars for example purposes.
In each case the researchers obtained quotes from three so-called "specialist" insurers, Sheila's wheels, Diamond and MoreTh>n, along with three general insurers.
For each car the researchers were able to get cheaper quotes from general insurers; on average almost £200 less.
A CoverGirl spokesperson said, "The big name insurers may not be the best people to get a cheap motor insurance quote from. As an online car insurance company, CoverGirl offers the discounts available to female drivers because female drivers are safer, and we back these great deals up with low overheads and super efficiency from our friendly call-centre.
"We advise women's car insurance customers to shop around to find the best deal. You can use a comparison site to see what's out there; then come to us and we will do our best to beat your quote."
