Driving lessons, passing your test and buying your first Toyota

Learning to drive can be a frightening experience and so it's good to know that there will be a reliable car waiting for you on the other side of your driving test, and, for most us that trusty car will be a Toyota. From learning to drive to getting a licence, we follow the journey of one of our customers as she puts her motoring skills to the test.

Sam Jenkins is an 18-year-old student from Birmingham, and, like many others out there she has just experienced the process of learning to drive, buying a car and finding an affordable women's insurance quote. We've all been there and so we can easily remember just how frightening and exciting the whole process can be.

Here at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, the experts in motor insurance, we thought it would be a great idea to document Sam's learning experience right up until the day she insured her Toyota. Here's her story.

Lesson 1
Today I met my driving instructor and the car that I'll be driving for the next couple of months. It's a brand new Toyota Yaris so hopefully I won't have any little accidents, fingers crossed. We found a quiet road where my instructor let me get behind the wheel for the first time. I made all my safety checks and put my foot on the accelerator. I didn't get far before I stalled the vehicle but hey I proved that I could drive.

Lesson 8
I've mastered some of the busier roads in the area and with the help of my mum, who takes me out driving in the evenings, I'm starting to feel more confident. My instructor taught me about reverse parking today. It took me a few goes but in the end I managed to park within the white lines. I'll be driving my very own Toyota in no time at all!!!

Lesson 16
I'm getting pretty good at all the manoeuvres, especially the three-point turn. My instructor said that I'm picking things up really quickly. I've also gone out on some of the busier A-roads to experience what it's like driving at 70mph!!

Lesson 22
I've already bought my very own Toyota so I'm even more eager to take the test. My instructor has lots of confidence in me and I've been booked in for next week. I've been taken out on various roads around the city so I should be ok when taking the actual test. I feel quite prepared and soon enough I'll be able to start my search for cheap Toyota car insurance.

The test
I passed!!! I was really nervous having an examiner in the car but after I made a perfect three-point turn I began feeling more and more confident. It really helped going out with my instructor before the test as well. I couldn't believe it when the examiner turned to me and said that I had passed, plus I only got three minors!!! How good is that?

Searching for cheap car insurance
After successfully taking my lesson and passing the test, I was ready to start searching for car insurance. I wanted to make sure that my Toyota would be covered for pretty much any eventuality and after getting several quotes from different companies I chose to go with CoverGirl Car Insurance. They offered me a deal that I just couldn't refuse and I would definitely recommend them to a friend in the future.

Well, there you have it; a great insight into one of our customers' personal experiences of learning to drive. If you want to get behind the wheel but don't know where to start, visit www.direct.gov.uk for more information. You could be driving your very own Toyota in no time at all!

Car insurance news 2005

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. Please check your policy details for more information. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
