Over the years the media has been a great means of communication between car manufactures and motorists and, with that it mind, we at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services have decided to take a look at some of the most classic Volkswagen adverts ever to grace our screens.
Volkswagen is of course one of the most recognised brands around and rightly so. With such an incredible history, one that even relates to Adolph Hitler, it's not surprising that there are a number of classic adverts that have been kept in the archives of time.
Whether you're a Volkswagen car insurance customer who drives a Golf, Passat, Eos or Polo, these adverts will get every one of you wanting to take a trip back in time to the day when many of these classic cars were first introduced.
So, put the kettle on, sit back and take a look at some of the best car adverts ever to be made by Volkswagen, as featured on http://www.youtube.com.
Volkswagen Campervan cartoon
This is a very old looking advert from 1950s Germany that shows a man
travelling through a town in his Volkswagen van. A group of businessmen
standing at a bus stop look at the vehicle as it passes and then suddenly
another appears which carries them as passengers down the street. As the
packed van journeys past a painter and decorator, the worker looks at
the VW in amazement. To end the commercial, another Volkswagen appears
and then suddenly he and all his equipment are inside the moving vehicle.
The advert shows that all types of people could use this Volkswagen model
for all sorts of business.
Volkswagen Beetle
This is a great advert for all Volkswagen car insurance customers. The American commercial shows a man standing next to a Beetle which is tied to a rope. The rope lifts the top front of the car, displaying the underneath of the vehicle and the man goes on to tell viewers that the VW has a sealed steel bottom. He then boasts about how 13Ibs of paint have been used to cover the vehicle, inside and out. The advert comes to an end when the man drives the "air-tight" VW Beetle into a lake.
Modern Volkswagen Beetle advert
This advert shows the changing face of one VW Beetle as it's passed from one owner to another over the span of several decades. Starting off in a car showroom in 1959, the Beetle starts its life in an eggshell colour and by the time the advert is over the car has been painted a further two colours. As the commercial moves into each new decade, the music changes to signify that era and we get a short insight into the cars' new owners. The moving advert ends with a voiceover reminding viewers that relationships are built to last, just as the Volkswagen Beetle is.
The crying Volkswagen Golf
This advert shows how Volkswagen motor insurance customers can sometimes take an already beautiful looking VW and add their own personality to the car with funky paintwork, spoilers, cow-printed seats and furry dice. After showing a number of VWs, the advert ends on a Golf that sheds a tear with a final caption reading "Sometimes things are best left alone."
Volkswagen Golf GTI
The clever advert uses camera trickery and a classic scene from the 1952 film Singin' in the Rain. In VW's re-created scene of Gene Kelly dancing in the rain in a dark street, the actor's face has been superimposed onto the body of a dancer who body pops to a funky rendition of the movies tag song. As Gene Kelly spots a police officer standing next to a Volkswagen Golf GTI, he nods his hat and walks on by. The advert ends by stating "The new Golf GTI. The original, updated."
