A 19-year-old learner driver who tried to hide the fact she had no woman car insurance by giving her mum's name has been banned from driving for six months.
The woman, from Blackburn, was stopped while in queuing traffic as police noticed that either she or her passenger were not wearing a seatbelt.
As she was not covered by woman car insurance, she panicked and gave her mother's name as her own.
However, her mother raised concerns about the summons she then received as she had been out of the country at the time of the incident.
The daughter then admitted to giving police the wrong name, and was charged with perverting the course of justice and driving without motor insurance.
When the case was called to Preston Crown Court for sentencing, her defence barrister said: "She is remorseful for what she did. She doesn't drive at all now."
The judge sentenced her to fifty hours of community work, twelve months supervision and a six month driving ban.
