Valentine's Day messages from police in Burnley were sent out in order to dissuade criminals from breaking into cars, and may have meant that some ladies were able to avoid a costly claim on their woman car insurance.
As part of a crackdown known as Operation Forecourt, the Pennine Division Police visited some of the known car criminals in Burnley to remind them to keep on the straight and narrow.
Inspector Darcy said: "We decided to use Valentine's Day to reinforce the message to car criminals that we are targeting them.
"Officers will be visiting the homes of prolific offenders and warning them about their actions and then they will give them the card, just as a reminder to know what they are up to and what the police are going to do about it."
The card reads: "We know you are a Burnley car thief; Our job is to give you some grief; So if you go out and commit some crime; We'll lock you up and you'll do some time!"
Operation Forecourt appears to be having an effect on car crime in the city, with rates down by more than a third since the beginning of 2007. This is excellent news for female motorists in the city, many of whom have been able to retain their low cost woman car insurance premiums.
If crime rates continue to fall, motor insurance companies may even start rewarding Burnley residents with cheaper car insurance quotes.
