Everyone knows that ladies are better drivers than men: woman car insurance companies, driving instructors, even female drivers themselves. Everyone, it seems, other than men.
The online motor insurance firm yesinsurance.co.uk has conducted research which has shown men still consider themselves to be better drivers than women, despite all the statistics in ladies' favour.
According to yesinsurance.co.uk, 31% of men believe that they are safer on the roads - a point which is contested by 95% of ladies. In contrast, 57% of ladies told the car insurance firm that they were better drivers, and 23% of men agreed.
Research into accident statistics has shown that the woman car insurance companies do have good reason to give ladies cheaper motor insurance quotes. Crash figures from the Office for National Statistics show that men are involved in twice as many accidents as women, despite the fact that there are just 30% more male drivers on the road.
A spokesperson for yesinsurance.co.uk said: "Both accident statistics and research of driving behaviour points to the fact that women are generally safer than men when on the road.
"Men tend to drive more miles than women over the course of a year, but even when this is taken into account men still come out worst, with a greater risk of undertaking risky manoeuvres and driving at high speed."
