Do woman car insurance buyers have pink cars?

A quick internet search for "pink cars" reveals they are out there on the second-hand market, and there are lots of pink car accessories, but there may be a negative attitude to the female drivers who drive them.

My personal fave item is pink viper stripes. I would love to see the look on my partner's face as I pull up to our house, in our bottle green family Astra, with two great pink stripes running over the roof of the car.

Trouble is, he won't entertain a pink gear lever, so I think the go faster in pink idea is probably a non-starter. And 17" Wolfrace pink alloys for just under £400, well, I think I may just have to dream about those for a while.

However, I might be able to integrate things in slowly, perhaps starting with a handy safety kit from the pink toolbox company. It really is a nifty little kit. Other pink kits I have found contain things like pliers, fuses and a mini socket set. That sounds as if they expect me to try to fix the car when it goes wrong. Sorry, but I'm proud to say I've got better things to do with my time than to find out where I would use a socket set on the engine. I can put in oil and water, and I've had to change a wheel - once - but that's about it.

The pink tool box company kit is far more practical. It's got a notepad and pencil, (so you can write down the number plate of white van man when he cut yous up on the M25) and a mobile phone mini power pack to allow you to call your rescue service even when your phone is flat. And my favourite bit of kit is the safety light/torch, fitted with a steel hammer point to help you smash your way out in the event of an electrics failure. Now that's pink and sensible.

But ladies, unless you've got a good sense of humour and don't mind being referred to as a "bint", don't go to pinkcar.co.uk. You'll find nothing there but stuff written by the type of guy that will cut you up in his macho Ford Transit that has a cleverly etched-in-the-dirt catch phrase of "Colin is gay" on the back door. Girls, don't go there!
