Ditch crash ruins woman's car insurance rate
A Somerset woman's car insurance rate is set to go through the roof - after she had to be rescued from the boot of her crashed car.
Fire officers pulled the lady to safety through the rear of her Peugeot 206, as the front of the car was immersed in a water-filled ditch.
After her dramatic escape the woman was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both police and fire crews attended the scene of the accident on the B3141, and the road had to be closed briefly afterward.
"The car wasn't actually underwater as such but the road was closed for a short time," said a police spokesman.
"Sounds like she was lucky to get away with just minor injuries," said a spokesperson for the woman's car insurance specialists at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services.
"It's a pity the same probably can't be said for her motor insurance premiums."
