CoverGirl women's car insurance top of the charts

You've bought your car, got the women's car insurance so now all you need is a nice smelling air freshener to keep your car smelling as sweet as freshly picked roses, or eucalyptus, or jasmine or freshly cut grass, or strawberry or blueberry jelly bean flavour or come to think of it, pretty much any scent you can think of! Car air fresheners are big business with thousands of car owners buying them every week to try and oust the smell of wet dog and stinky socks.

However, no matter which air freshener you choose, they all seem to have the same sickly sweet smell and last for at best a week. With this in mind I have compiled a list of the top ten best smelling scents to fumigate your car with.

Number 1. Top of the car scents is the Magic Tree Jet Fresh for its scent stamina and pleasing aroma. At £3.99 it doesn't do too badly on the price stakes either.

Number 2. Hitting number two is the Neutradol stick on air freshener. Although it doesn't win any points for its design or longevity, its cheap price, bearable smell and ability to destroy odours pushes it to the top end of the chart.

Number 3. For pure comedy value alone this one has to be number three. The Funky Fresh sizzling bacon scented air freshener not only smells like freshly fried bacon, but looks like bacon too. As a vegetarian this is perhaps not one I'd have hanging in my car but I can see it would be popular amongst the more carnivorous car owners out there.

Number 4. For my sheer love of jelly beans, next on the list is the Jelly Belly Juicy Pear air freshener. Although the smell is not entirely convincing and it does err on the expensive side, having a giant jelly bean dangling from your dashboard is too great a novelty to do without.

Number 5. Halfway down the list for its iconic status alone is the traffic light air freshener which at only £2.69 seems an absolute bargain for such a retro item.

Number 6. At number six is the Richbrook Poppy Coral. Looking like something you might find on your boss's desk, this air freshener wins points for its sophisticated and executive look alone. However at £6.99 for the chrome version, this fancy freshener doesn't come cheap.

Number 7. Although not a lover of the more cute and cuddly fresheners myself, this plush version of Animal from the muppets did make me chuckle and is bound to be a conversation starter for those awkward moments when conversation runs dry.

Number 9. Deo Smile air freshener comes in at number eight for its unrelenting positivism and smiling face even in the most desperate of times. At £1 you can't really go wrong and it doesn't smell too bad either.

Number 10. Last and most definitely least on the list has to be the Tesco value air freshener. For 47p you get what you pay for – a nasty industrial smell which unfortunately does linger.
