Psychologist Dr Acric Sigman worked on the study alongside Vauxhall and said, "A women likes to engage in what may on the surface appear to be chatty conversation with the sales person but is actually natural female intelligence-gathering about the qualities of the person trying to sell something to her. In a retail environment, there is a clear hierarchy of personality traits that women respond to positively. A sense of humour reveals humanity in the sales person."

We all know that women have a great sense of humour and therefore would make ideal salespeople to work in car showrooms, meeting and talking with female customers who were interested in buying new cars. In the study, female drivers were asked to name a celebrity that they would most likely buy a vehicle from given the opportunity. Their answers were somewhat interesting and out of all the celebrities on the list, Xfactor judge Sharon Osborne proved to be the most popular female sales rep, closely followed by Dawn French and Davina McCall. With their witty personalities there's no doubt that these women would prove to be excellent in the field of selling cars to other women.

But despite any concerns, it must be said that there are a large number of salespeople, both male and female, who want to provide an excellent service to their customers.
