A female driver from Crawley, Sussex, won't be seeing any low cost women's car insurance deals for quite some time after she was convicted of dangerous driving.
Stephanie Gibbons, 48, drove at speeds of up to 80mph through Brighton and Hove as she tried to escape police.
She started to flee after noticing a police patrol car on the A27 near Falmer, and proceeded to speed around the Sussex coastal resort for about 40 minutes, running red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road in the process.
The chase came to an end when she mounted the curb and came to a rest on Brighton seafront, where she was apprehended by police.
Ms Gibbons explained her desperation to escape was due to outstanding warrants for her arrest, and that at one point she had planned to drive off the top of the cliffs near Brighton.
Lewes Crown Court gave her a 34-month suspended sentence and ordered her to perform 100 hours of community service.
On top of this penalty, it is unlikely that Ms Gibbons' women's car insurance company will offer her cheap motor insurance until the conviction is spent.
