Most ladies are very confident when it comes to getting a great deal on women's car insurance these days thanks to the many motor insurance companies offering deals just for female drivers. However, research by Capital One has revealed that girls don't have the same confidence when it comes to purchasing a car.
75% of women interviewed by Capital One said that they prefer male company when they are buying a new car. 40% explained this was because they feel that they would get a better deal this way, as their gender would hinder a good sale.
A spokesperson for Capital One said: "The messages in this survey tell us that today's women still do not feel as empowered as they should in the car buying process.
"While these findings are troubling, it's important for women to realise that showroom purchasing power begins and ends with education."
She went on to suggest that female drivers turn to online and offline motoring resources in order to get better informed.
Lee-Anne Bass, spokesperson for women's car insurance company CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, commented: "Buying a car is a significant outlay so it is no bad thing to take along someone else for a second opinion.
"However, I would definitely recommend that ladies gather as much knowledge beforehand so they can go armed with all the facts and get the best deal possible."
