A 48-year-old lady is looking at higher women's car insurance rates after being convicted of drink driving.
The woman, from Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess alcohol at Swindon Magistrates' Court. However, two other charges of driving without a licence and motor insurance were dropped.
The charges arose out of an incident on March 6th 2007, when the lady crashed her Hyundai into a traffic island and left her car in the road.
She was given a roadside breath test and was found to be almost three times over the legal blood alcohol level for driving.
In her defence, the lady said: "There wasn't a collision with another vehicle because I went onto the island. I have no idea how I was over the limit because I had only had two drinks.
"I've never been in any trouble with the police before and I'm sorry, but I'm glad that no-one was hurt."
A pre-sentence report has been ordered and will be presented before the woman receives her sentence.
Gemma Turner, of the woman car insurance firm CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, said: "It is fortunate that no other vehicles were involved in the accident, although I am sure this lady will see an impact on the price of her motor insurance."
